The Oregon Trail

Okay, so it’s totally not the Oregon Trail but I loved that game as a kid and we are making our own trail through this incredible state! Over the next couple of weeks, I am going to share lots of posts about some of the details of our trip, but this post will be the hub and overview the entire trip. As I add more posts, I will link them here for you to click around and explore. For now, here is an overview of the trail we are still blazing through Oregon.

Day 1: Fresno to Redding

Ghiradelli Outlet
  • Stops: Ghiradelli Outlet in Lathrop, and Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento
  • Visits: Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay in Redding

Day 2: Redding to Bend

Crater Lake
  • Stops: Lunch in Klamath Falls and Crater Lake
  • Stay: Riverhouse on the Deschutes

Day 3: Bend to Portland

Turkish Bath at McMenamins
  • Stops: Turkish Bath at McMenamins Old St.Francis School, Mt. Hood
  • Stay: Inn at Northrup Station

Day 4: Day in Portland

International Rose Test Garden
  • Visit: Portland Children’s Museum, Powell’s Books, Washington Park – International Rose Test Garden

Day 5: Day Trip from Portland to Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls

Day 6: Portland to Newport

Cannon Beach
  • Stops: Astoria and Cannon Beach (Goonies!!!), Tillamook

Day 7: Day in Newport

  • Visit: Beach, Devil’s Punchbowl

Day 8: Newport to Brookings

Cape Perpetua by Thor’s Well
  • Stops: Heceta Head Lighthouse, Thor’s Well

Day 9: Brookings to Fort Bragg

Redwood National Park
  • Visit: Redwood National Park

Day 10: Drive home

  1. There is a very cool cave/old railroad tunnel by Multnomah falls. Also several awesome fish hatcheries! Have a great vacation!
